March
Chelsea and John work for the same company, and used to work in the same building. She’d seen him around a few times and had a bit of a crush on him already...He thinks it must have been his sexy unreliability and rugged woodsmanlike looks. She by and large agrees.
Chelsea first caught John’s eye one Thursday around the office. He thought they locked eyes (though she doesn’t remember that). That night at a company party, he saw her again but was too shy to go talk with her. Thankfully, she stopped by his office the next day with the perfect excuse to talk. In moments, they were drawn to each other and other people who stopped by that evening said each of them were acting as if no one else was in the room.
He tried to get her to hang out that evening with him and some friends, but she had plans already and felt rude breaking them last minute (which he respected). They agreed to meet up on sunday. She really wanted to see him on saturday though, so she called him - this time he had plans, a blind date. Not anymore! He cancelled it, and they were on their way. By the end of the venezuelan arepas at dinner, they’d lost track of time and each felt as if they’d been inseparable for years. They spent the rest of the weekend together and by the end of their wine, cheese and prosciutto dinner on sunday night, they were both madly in love. By the end of the month, he’d met her family (including ‘Lita!), and they were in each others’ arms at every moment possible.
April
The folks who work closest with John in his office dubbed their second month together as “The April of Woody”. Each weekend was a long one, and Chelsea and John vacationed in St. Barts, North Carolina where she met his family, including his sister’s brand new baby, and Kiawah Island (near Charleston) to attend a wedding. They also spent their first weekend apart from each other, which only solidified each other’s views that this was different than anything either of them had experienced before. Chelsea made fun of John in March because he kept adding the phrase “so far” to his statements about how great things were with her, as if he was afraid it would soon fade. He wasn’t saying that anymore. They only grew closer as each week went by.
May
May was pretty amazing. Chelsea called it their month-long staycation. She started making signature meals like roasted chicken, eggplant, prociutto and fresh mozzarella alongside quinoa. He achieved work-life balance for the first time in years. They explored Brooklyn together, and commented at length to each other about how lucky they were. Friends didn’t seem them much (sorry all!).
June
Chelsea and John had already been talking about getting married by June. They had plans to do some shopping in Greenwich and decided to stop in the ring store....just to look. Just before doing so, they walked by the Greenwich psychic’s storefront and decided to get a couple’s reading. Amongst other things that hit home deeply for both of them, the psychic confirmed what they’d both already known. They’d been separated in a past life unexpectedly, had found each other again and would now be together for the rest of their lives. In the jewelry store, they both quickly gravitated to the same ring. Chelsea tried it on and it fit perfectly. John was overcome with the idea of being married to the beautiful girl in front of him. They both smiled, bought it then and there, and walked across the street to a pathway lined with flowers where John got down on one knee and asked Chelsea to marry him. She was ecstatic and said yes!
July until the wedding
Chelsea and John live together in South Norwalk, Connecticut during the week and in Williamsburg, Brooklyn most weekends (and are trying to get into brooklyn at least once a week now for date nights). They still work at the same company, though now in different buildings, love kissing each other at stop lights, try to keep their taco bell consumption to a necessary minimum level, say “skittles” to each other in unmasculine-like ways, and generally talk to each other in funny voices more often than is probably normal. She’s turned him into the early bird he always wanted to be. He turns her onto the new music he’s listening to. She loves listening to him explaining things he’s working on, and their questions and perspective each spark each others’ best ideas. All said more simply: they’re ready to share their lives with each other, and take on the world...To Infinity and Beyond!
